Introduction of the Course Instruzzctor, Hossein Alizadeh

Hossein Alizadeh, composer, Tar and Setar player, conductor and music researcher, was born in Tehran on September 22, 1951. In 1964, he entered the Music School and began his studies under the guidance of Hossein Zarif, Habibollah Salehi, Mahmoud Karimi, and Ali Akbar Shahnazi. In 1968, Alizadeh joined the Rudaki orchestra led by Hossein Dehlavi as a performer. In 1971, he entered the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Tehran, pursuing education, performing and teaching at the Center for Preservation and Propagation of Iranian Music at the same time. During this time, he also started his activities at CIDCA (Center for the Intellectual Development of Child and Adolescent), creating numerous works in the field of teaching and composing children’s music.

In 1979, Alizadeh co-founded the Chavosh Cultural Center along with other Iranian musicians, creating an enduring collection of albums called "Chavosh." He also had a significant impact on training musicians and players of that era through his teachings. His notable educational works include collections such as "Ten Pieces for Tar" (in 6 volumes), "Tar and Setar Instruction" (introductory and intermediate), and "Advanced Vocal and Instrumental Radif." In the early 1980s, he continued his higher education at the Free University of Berlin.

In 1988, after performing Shurangiz concert, he formed various musical ensembles and had numerous performances in Iran and abroad. In 1989, he established the "Hamavayan Ensemble" to fulfill his unique vision and ideas in Iranian music, leading to various performances and recordings. These works include compositions such as "Shurangiz," "Raz-o-Niaz," "Sobhgahi," "Song of Campassion," "Novel Mystery," "The Endless Vision," "Ode to Flowers," "Badeh Toei," and "Eşqim Gəl." He also showcased his innovative improvisation skills in pieces like "Turkaman," "Paykubi," "Homayoun and Nava," "Rast-Panjgah Concert," "Monad," "Moon and Fog," and "Torbat."

He performed in various countries with Mohammad-Reza Shajarian as part of a four-member ensemble, along with Keyhan Kalhor and Homayoun Shajarian until 2005. Hossein Alizadeh has been nominated for the Grammy Award three times for albums "The Cry," "Without You," and "The Endless Vision" in the "Best World Music Album" category. He also received the biennial Asian World Music Award from the World Music Center Foundation in South Korea.

Alizadeh is a prominent figure in Iranian film score. He received the Best Soundtrack award for the film "Shallow Yellow Sky" at the Iranian Critics' Association Festival. He is the holder of the most Crystal Simorgh Awards from Fajr International Film Festival by earning four Crystal Simorgh for films "Gabbeh," "The Ugly and the Beautiful," "The Song of Sparrows," and "The Queen". He is highly regarded in the field of film score and is an acclaimed figure in the field of film score by the House of Music.
